Mr Christmas has decided to stop celebrating the festive day.

We’re not talking about Santa Claus – he’ll still be delivering your presents this year.

We’re referring to Andy Park (aka Mr Christmas) who has decided to give up celebrating December 25 every day after doing it for 22 years straight.

Yes, he’s been tucking into a full festive dinner seven days a week and also watching the Queen’s speech 365 times a year.

The 51-year-old, from Melksham in Wiltshire, claimed the holiday had left him overweight and skint (we’re not surprised).

‘I haven’t had a girlfriend since this all started. I did go on a date a few years ago’, he said.

‘It was all going well until I invited her back to my house. It was August and I had my decorations up. She made her excuses and left and I never heard from her again.’

His festive fixation has also wiped out his savings, and his daughter Carrie-Ann, 30, urged him to give up, prompting him to pledge to call it a day on December 26 this year.

Mr Park started his full-time festive celebrations in 1993 – and said this year had seen him reach a grand total expenditure of around £2,000,000.

In more than two decades he spent £800,000 on gifts, £650,000 on food, £109.000 on champagne, £80,000 on crackers, £7,000 on trees and £35,000 on decorations.

He also forked out £110,000 on cards and a whopping £260,000 on electricity of his festive lights.

He gained nine stone as well, and even after losing six of them, doctors warned he was still at risk of heart disease.
